COMMUNITY IMPACT:

FOOD SUPPORT, HYGIENE, WATER, SANITATION & RESOURCE DISTRIBUTION

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

To create a community impact resource guide that seeks to assist, support to communities we serve that have been affected by the COVID 19 virus and also because most of them are vulnerable.

 

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • Contributed in donation over 5000 washable cloth masks to Ilala municipal council- Dar-es-salaam

  • Supply of essential food supplies to all my staff families and underprivileged.

  • Supporting the community with hand sanitizers and antibacterial liquid hand soap

  • Donated food items to people at the frontline in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic and patients admitted at three centers named Mloganzila Hospital, Amana Hospital, and Temeke Hospital respectively

  • During EID we gave out thousands of hair extensions to the local neighborhoods in Mbagala

  • We gave free soap through APM water division to the areas we had water projects in

  • We gave out free napkins and toilets papers from our paper factory to the neighborhoods in Sala Sala

  • Feeding 120 orphanage children once a week on Fridays during this period when their usual benefactors have pulled out due to financial constraints

  • Support staff on hygiene and work execution and managing business continuity

TIMELINE:

Ongoing and continuing to support the community. 

To support to communities we serve that have been affected by the COVID 19 virus and also assist the vulnerable.

FUNDING:

FOR COVID-19 RESPONSES

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

Impact fund/ funding and support for business and YPO Led COVID19 Initiatives

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • Created an isolation unit at the regency medical center for patients who have contracted the virus.

  • Members have also raised funds and donated in kind to the Tanzanian task for a force for COVID-19 (Nandra Engineering and Coast Millers Limited)

  • Funds to support the Covid-19 support of TZS 200,000,000 (TOYOTA)

  • Member (Vodacom) Donation of USD 1 million in-kind supporting the government’s efforts to combat COVID 19.

  • Donation of 10 routers with 50GBs of 10 Data sim cards for two months to the Ministry of Health deployed to quarantine centers

  • Tanzania Bankers Association (Standard Charted support, huge funding towards the Covid-19 Fund)

HEALTHCARE:

Pharma, Medical Consumables, Equipment, Institutions

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

Flatten the curve and lower the mortality and morbidity associated with COVID-19.

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • Information

  • Continual Management and HR dept. updates and communication with employees.

  • Social distancing through remote working and rotation systems

 

Hardware

  • Provided Generators to support local hospitals  (180 KVA) (TOYOTA)

  • Providing health & hygiene essentials for all employees and facilities

  • customization of a container laboratory/ clinic and use of the same for 3 months at any remote facilities for patients, under the allocation of prime ministers office.

  • (Achelis) Have been supplying all the COVID relief tents and medical equipment with German funds to the TPDF – From Medial theaters to beds to support structures These tents have been erected around the country in order to support the crisis management of this Pandemic.   

  • (Achelis)Being Medical equipment suppliers we have supported and supplied many institutions around Tanzania especially in these urgent times.                                                   

Staff

  • Compulsory temperature checking for all employees and customers entering the premises

  • Transport solutions for employees.

  • For our staff, we put the entire senior team and their families on medical insurance that included treatment due to COVID. 

  • We also provided care packs which included protective equipment such as masks etc.   

 

At Home

  • Supporting the health workers and our front line heroes by providing Unlimited data  to all healthcare workers in COVID special centers

  • Health Education - creation, curation and distribution

LOGISTICS:

INTERNATIONAL AND INTERNAL

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

To coordinate the supply chain of essential medical supplies in conjunction with the Solidarity Fund and other partners and public Security Industry and Government with regard to updates affecting the safety of Tanzanian people and business.

 

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • We at YPO Tanzania have modified our operating procedures to ensure that we continue to provide a high level of uninterrupted service.  We have also sourced alternative suppliers and worked with our logistics people to ensure minimal disruption to our supply chain

  • Allocation of 4 semi-trailer heavy vehicles to the prime minister's office for a period of 3 months including all consumable costs for use in the distribution of supplies all over the country. (Advent Constructions)

  • Providing Transports with different routes to all the staffs

  • Through Toyota Care® we have introduced a Roadside Assistance service to ensure all Government vehicles are mobile. The service is available 24 hours, 7 days a week.

  • The need is a high need for distribution of medical supplies, therefore, we have made available a fleet of 20 Bajaj three-wheeler vehicles, from our Group company, Sunbeam Auto Limited, as a resource to assist in this activity whenever called upon.

EDUCATION:

CONTINUITY

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

  • To obtain, verify, and disseminate Education related projects, restrictions, and opportunities relevant to the management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • To enable solutions for education continuity in the event that schools stay closed and Work with education departments in aligning response

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • Awareness campaign where the public can Dial 199 or SMS the word CORONA to 199 or dial *199# or visit our Vodacom LIVE portal to get insights on COVID-19

  • Modem packages for schools, teachers, and students

  • Get Educational contacts on selected websites for free

  • Informative content to educate our stakeholders on the precautionary measures they can take against the spread of the Covid-19.

  • An executed economic analysis which assisted in engagement with Bank of Tanzania and other stakeholders which has enabled 1st set of interventions being announced, Come up with a common approach to manage hygiene and risk assessment for the industry which supported alignment on staff and client impact

Initiate to provide continuous education on Covid-19 and leveraging long-standing relationships with the  Basic Education departments for Home schooling.

BUSINESS:

ASSISTANCE

SINGLE OBJECTIVE/GOAL OF THE PILLAR:

Our YPO community in Tanzania [and beyond] has a critical role to play in creating a climate that enables businesses in distress to survive times of economic hardship and continue to operate in the economy.  There is that success in this regard that will build a market of future YPO leaders. Overall, partnering to create an enabling environment for business and customers survivability and growth.

 

 

ACTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN TAKEN PLACE ALREADY:

  • Raise awareness on all initiatives introduced to ensure operations continue running smoothly and for the convenience of our customers.

  • Engagement activities with YPO members ( Member to Member) have been identified. These require champions to lead the engagement and build awareness with other members within themselves. (to share the growing workload).

Financial – Clients & Development Partners (Stakeholder engagement and national support initiatives, CEO Round Table,  Tanzania Bankers Association, TPSF) (Standard Chartered Bank ):

  • Provided a minimum 3 months relief measures for its Individual and Business Clients whose income and cash flows have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic

  • Eliminated fees for low-value transactions for individuals to promote digital money, Reduced digital transaction fees by 40% for all development partner clients who are supporting Covid19 interventions

  • Contributed to advocacy and research in engaging our members by organizing one of the leading advocates of the country on employment and labour issues and in regard to new laws by the Government on Covid-19.
