UPDATE ON KEY MILESTONES ACHIEVED:

- Set up a strong sector approach under Kenya Healthcare Federation ( part of Kenya Private Sector Alliance) working closely with the MoH to supplement Covid 19 actions in Kenya

- KHF now represents the private health sector on the MoH Task Force on Covid 19

- Trained over 1500 healthcare workers and created resource repository, with online training

- Promoted and secured purchase of suitable supplies by government eg tests by Roche

- Launched “Wheels for Life” that help mothers with free transport during curfew hours

- Set up a private sector resource centre for Cash and Kind contributions that are distributed to targeted SMEs in private health services

- Conducting regular Clinical and Strategic webinars on Covid 19

- Provided a well resourced Infrastructure handbook to MoH for innovative hospital designs

- Started a Community preparedness webinar series to ensure reduction in transmission

- Set up special groups within the private health sector companies to increase collaboration

- Safe Hands Coalition has raided US$ 1.2 million already and coordinated rollout of community hand washing stations in Nairobi, safeguarded Kenyan jobs by partnering with local factories to provide facemasks and accessed 90% of the population with a countrywide health awareness campaign dubbed "Tiba na Sisi".


TARGET ACHIEVEMENTS FOR THE NEXT 4 WEEKS:

- Advocate for scaling up recruitment, training and deployment of HCWs in other hotspots by MoH

- Develop regular peer-learning between hospitals

- Implement suitable innovations for critical care / gas supply etc

- Engage NHIF and private insurers to settle hospital claims as soon as possible

- Promote risk allowance fund ( Hazard pay) for healthcare workers (HCWs)

- Push for the e-health regulations approval

- Scale up lab test capacity by private sector

- Secure EA border medical safety measures


ANY BLOCKERS OR AREAS CO-CHAIRS NEED HELP:

- Get data and Economic models on justification for scaled up testing

- Engage developmental partners for project funding

- HCWs accommodation, transport , upkeep partnership model

- Accelerate partnership with private sector corporates to assist SME hospitals

- Contracting out services to private health sector

- Emergency medical/ambulance services
